One day to the next.

Oh what a difference a day makes.

Yesterday after I collected Nancy from Preschool I thought sod it, yes it may be raining, yes it may be cold. But we are getting out. We’re going to the beach and we’re making the best of our free time. And we were rewarded with this…IMG_20160211_175328

One of our favourite places, all to ourselves. A glorious blue sky and the sun, pushing through, determined to warm us, just a little. Just enough.

We built castles, we collected interesting stones. Waded in the fast flowing stream, made heavy by endless days of relentless rain. Cutting a new trail across the beach, more direct, less meandering. Rushing to the sea with intent, like my little ladies. Eyes set on the shimmering sparkles and off they go.IMG_20160211_180141We followed that with rainbow chasing on the way to searching out a hot chocolate. We actually found the end of the rainbow and drove through it. Nancy wished for cake. Easily arranged.

Flash forward to today, a night of no sleep all round and no one wants to be friends. No pretty pictures to share. I’ve eaten too much. Raised my voice too much. It’s all been too much.

Bedtime, a chance to reroute things. Shirley Hughes, a childhood favourite. IMG_20160212_201515

Tomorrow, a chance to do over.

Just discovered your blog, and I decided I needed to read from the beginning. And though I’m nearly 2 years late, I have to tell you how beautifully you captured this day (and even the hard day that followed!). So glad to have found this space.
