Hi to everyone who's still left around these parts Hi to everyone who's still left around these parts, there was a mass exodus after I set some boundaries in my stories a few days ago. That was an interesting 24 hours, it felt a bit like a Spring clean and that can't be a bad thing I'm sure. The short version is let's get back to saying please and thank you on here again, shall we? This Cedar Clad side of the shed is definitely one of my most favourite details in the garden and we've decided to carry it on around to the back fence. I've given myself the winter to think about it, initially I wasn't 100% convinced as I was worried it might feel odd with the Cedar + fence ending and seeing sky above. All change. I've lost count of how many different All change. I've lost count of how many different versions this part of the house has been through, but that's the beauty of this space, different times of the year and different goings on require different setups. Today I very gladly got rid of the old computer and desk we've had here for the last however long, a temporary schooling setup I'm not sorry to see the back of. The girls go back to school on Monday ♡ The focus for this space now is to feel connected with outside, so we can watch Spring come to life, as the flower bed that hugs this corner bursts into growth. I absolutely adore that it feels as though the internal floor continues to outside, pulling the eye out in different directions. A day of many differing parts. My morning was spen A day of many differing parts. My morning was spent trying to appeal to Facebook, who have banned my accounts (Instagram + FB) from ever being able to run paid Ads ever again, their conclusion was jog on. A painful reminder we are not in charge around here. I followed this by an afternoon tour of 3 local Garden Centres with my girls, where we got a bit spendy (I completely blame Facebook for this, I may send them the bill) and treated ourselves to some beautiful new plants. Sunday is planting day and we can't wait. Then hunger related anger kicked in with said children and we were no longer friends. Then I failed to cook the meal I've been attempting to cook for 3 days, because I STILL haven't managed to buy all the ingredients. It's only Macaroni Cheese ffs!! I've decided to drink a bottle Mud House Sauv Blanc Rose (my new crush) instead of attempt another dinner (the children can have porridge + a multivit, that's a balanced meal right?!) and I'm caring a lot less about most things now. Wine is good. Apparently today was our last day of schooling from home. Today I went out into the garden to tidy a few thi Today I went out into the garden to tidy a few things and ended up being out there for over 6 hours. My back is aching, my hands are filthy and dry but I feel incredibly happy. Clearly this photo is not now, things are still sleeping at the moment, the ground looks a bit bleak, but I have spotted little fresh shoots: Aliums, Muscari, Peonies, Geum, Leucanthemums, the Forsythia in the hedge is in bud. This photo was taken last summer, I remember having a similar feeling of contentment and pride then, for what we have created outside and for how it connects with our home. I find it hard to coordinate looking at the camera and smiling and the self conscious part of me always tries to cover my chin and neck, but I still want to show up here from time to time. Pssst, don't tell anyone, but I'm planning some bi Pssst, don't tell anyone, but I'm planning some big kitchen changes. Part of the deal I made with myself, to embrace this house and the space that we have, despite it being *just* on the cusp of feeling a bit too small for our family, was to make every area work extra hard. As time goes on, as the children grow and our needs change, so too does my understanding of what we will need from our home, to continue to live here for many years to come. The kitchen, the largest room in the house, was updated approx 7 years ago on a serious budget, then again with a few cosmetic changes 3 years ago. The work was never to create THE kitchen, just to continue to keep it ticking over until the "one day kitchen" came around. With the amount of time I am spending here at the moment, my mind has been working overtime on what I would like to create, spurred on by frustration and the need to make things more efficient, cleaner, more streamlined and functional. The wonderful @my_designer_friend is helping me think the process through and come up with some plans, which I look forward to sharing with you on the blog in due course. Amongst the many feelings this current life brings Amongst the many feelings this current life brings about, the most overwhelming one recently for me, despite having so much to try and keep on top of, with work, children, their school work, our day to day mental health, cast over the top of all of that has been a smothering blanket of unfulfillment. I was wondering what it was the other day, I was searching for the right word to vocalise what was wrong and unfulfilled is absolutely it. So today I stole away for a little while and made something for myself. I got my hands dirty, I stood at the potting bench and noticed small signs of Spring around me, forgotten about bulbs which have determinedly sprouted in their cast aside positions on shelves, the clean, fresh air...
