Midsommar Celebrations

Somehow we’ve reached this special turning point of the year and I felt inspired to share some midsummer inspiration with you here, on my rather neglected journal. Yes, this is my first post since Dec’23!

I love nothing more than creating beautiful moments, indoors and out, absorbing all the wonderful details that nature provides for us. It doesn’t have to be overly complicated, lay a table, in the kitchen, garden, a field or even a public park. You could simply pop a cushion on the front doorstep and throw a little party that way.

The Swedish brand Ernst is one of our favourites at the shop and their summer collection works so well for a timeless, alfresco celebration, don’t you think?

Cow Parsley makes a wonderful, free floral decoration, but please forage responsibly and only take a little.

Fresh, zingy cocktail ideas…

Can you get a more uplifting, celebratory tipple than something lemony? That envigorating citrus burst in your mouth, like consuming a small part of the Summer and embodying it’s energy and joy.

Create an inviting space to sit a while…

Layer textiles and ceramics, enjoy the calm of the outdoors, it’s just the antidote to all the worries so many of us are experiencing at the moment.

Give yourself permission to take a moment out from the monotony of every day. Make a lunch or evening meal that bit more special, use the good napkins, play around, decorate with homewares you may already own, introduce branches, flowers and interesting things you’ve found, to spark conversations and make lovely memories.

Creating beautiful moments is a form of therapy for me, I think it’s a way of allowing myself to play, to free my imagination, allowing it to run wild. It’s incredibly important to give ourselves time and space to do this. Is it something you enjoy doing too?
